The Princeville Resort (and Spa?)

In November, we took a one week trip to Kauai in Hawaii. I'd been speaking every week for almost 12 weeks all through out the West Coast and I was exhausted! Kauai is one of my favorite islands. We rented a beautiful house on the North Shore in the Princeville Estates that overlooked the Ocean from the cliffs.

We spent the first day just driving around, seeing the sights. These waterfalls in the picture to the left are even more beautiful with the rainbow behind it.

The next order of business, being the spa junkie that I am, was to check out the spas on the island. The closest and seemingly best spa seemed to be at the Princeville Resort. This is a beautiful hotel overlooking the North Shore. I've played some great rounds of golf here a few years ago. This picture to the left is of the view from the Princeville lobby balcony.

The spa was a HUGE disapointment. My treatment was OK -- I got a massage. But the amentities were poor. Its strange because this property is very nice. The spa pool barely had any sun! There was a very small and weird sauna. And the steam room was old and let's say, very noisy.

I wouldn't go again, that's for sure. After a week on the island, we flew back through Honolulu and spent the day there. I'm not too crazy about the "city" feel to it but we did find this magical hotel, Turtle Bay Resort, away from it all. This picture was the "shack" they served lunch from on the beach. It was just so magical to sit and watch the ocean with the breeze through my hair enjoying my lunch! I'd go back to this hotel in a heart-beat.

I can't wait for my next adventure...hmmm, Caribbean? Tahiti? Where should I go?
